The best way to visit the best aquarium in Europe in a single day: Poema del Mar. In addition, you can learn about (and taste!) the history of the famous Arehucas Distillery and visit one of the most beautiful historical neighborhoods in the Canary Islands: Vegueta.
The departure begins with the transfer to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife dock to depart by ferry to Gran Canaria, arriving at Puerto de las Nieves (Agaete). Our first stop will be the Poema del Mar Aquarium, located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This theme park, located in the Puerto de la Luz area and opened in 2017, presents the majesty of nature in three incomparable environments: jungle, reef-beach and deep-ocean.
It has the largest curved glass in the world, which exhibits some 350 species, in enclosures where you can see everything from sharks, piranhas, freshwater rays and eyeless fish, to crocodiles and sea dragons!
Next, we will go to the historic center of Vegueta, which became the founding nucleus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at the end of the 15th century. In its squares are historical buildings such as the Casa de Colón, the Cathedral of Santa Ana, the Museo Canario, the Gabinete Literario, the Casas Consistoriales and the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno. The wide commercial offer of the old town extends next to the Market, and along the commercial street of Triana.
After this visit, we will move to Destilerías Arehucas, where we will learn the secret of the uniqueness of its rums, a journey through the history, tradition and good work of Arehucas. In addition, we will explain the process of making the rums: the visit will allow you to tour one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, made up of 4,308 American oak barrels (around 300 signed by famous people). We will have a tasting of rums and liqueurs, to end with a very good taste!
After the visit we will return to Puerto de las Nieves (Agaete) to return to Tenerife.
